Never Fade Review!

I finished Never Fadeby Alex Bracken and *sobs.*

Without further ado, I give you my review for the second book in (the) The Darkest Minds trilogy!

Book: Never Fade

Author: Alexandra Bracken

Rate: 4/5 stars

Goodreads Summary: Ruby never asked for the abilities that almost cost her her life. Now she must call upon them on a daily basis, leading dangerous missions to bring down a corrupt government and breaking into the minds of her enemies. Other kids in the Children’s League call Ruby “Leader”, but she knows what she really is: a monster.

When Ruby is entrusted with an explosive secret, she must embark on her most dangerous mission yet: leaving the Children’s League behind. Crucial information about the disease that killed most of America’s children—and turned Ruby and the others who lived into feared and hated outcasts—has survived every attempt to destroy it. But the truth is only saved in one place: a flashdrive in the hands of Liam Stewart, the boy Ruby once believed was her future—and who now wouldn’t recognize her.

As Ruby sets out across a desperate, lawless country to find Liam—and answers about the catastrophe that has ripped both her life and America apart—she is torn between old friends and the promise she made to serve the League. Ruby will do anything to protect the people she loves. But what if winning the war means losing herself?

*Note: I’m going to try to make better reviews, so I’m going to go into more detail. Since this is a sequel, THIS REVIEW DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS!*

Review: So, I’m going to try to explain what I thought of it by level, for example the beginning, middle and end. In the beginning, you can tell a LOT of time has passed (possibly even more than a month) and Ruby is now sided with the Children’s League and honestly, I didn’t like Ruby anymore. Small bits of the story were confusing at first but then you figured them out and it was all good. I also didn’t like Liam at ALL, and Chubs was very different. Liam was so unlike himself for the longest time, and Chubs was just really distant. I’d have to say my favorite character was Jude, and in the end he was the only person I liked. (And then he had to die, so I was sitting there like: )

well this is fineee

I loved the middle a LOT more! It was better because they were out on their own, which I liked better and it was like, THIS is what I came here for. It felt more home-y. The writing was realistic and fantastic and then the ending was INTENSE with the whole bombing and Clancy and everything it was just OH MAN. In all, the plot and the writing put together were just intense and beautiful and heart wrenching and awesome! I do have to say, liking only about 2 characters DID have setbacks and it wasn’t as fun as the first book, but I still loved it which I think backs up my rate, 4/5 stars.

I just have to say, I don’t like the new Ruby. I don’t know it was just a lot more strange and it was kinda like “well who is this chick” at first. In the end, Never Fade was still amazing!!!! I’m now about to start Clockwork Angel, and MAN. I have way too many books to read!
